Build a Head was launched in 2010 by a couple of college students hoping to cheer on Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. Wanting to stand out from the crowd of adoring fans, co-founders Bryan Price and Anastasios Chomokos sought to find some big head cutouts of Lance, but they were unable to find a company to make them. The friends decided to make their own. The big head cutouts stood out so much that even Lance took notice. He was so taken by them that he pulled over to sign one and even included a photo of him posing with his big head cutout in his book "Comeback: 2.0".
Cheering on a famous athlete sparked an idea, but the real growth has come as Build a Head has helped superfans everywhere celebrate their own friends and family. Since its inception over a decade ago, Build a Head has sold over a million big head cutouts and has expanded the product line into life-size standup cutouts, custom keychains, and personalized Christmas ornaments. You can be sure that the Build a Head team is always hard at work developing new custom ways to help you make something memorable.
In July 2019, Build a Head was acquired by a new group of friends: brothers Chad and Tyler Turner and James Green. Since acquiring the business, the Build a Head team has launched PawprintsHQ—a pet-focused cutout product—as well as acquiring and re-launching CardboardCutouts.com. Additionally, prior to Christmas of 2021, the Build a Head team acquired all of the assets from Gift Wrap MY Face.
